These Beeswax food wraps are a perfect alternative to single-use plastic clingfilm. They are made from organic cotton and natural beeswax, meaning they are non-toxic, food-safe and can be composted at the end of their life!

Over 1.2 billion metres, which is a whopping 745,000 miles of cling film, is used by households across Britain every year - enough to go around the circumference of the world 30 times over! Like plastic bags, cling film that ends up in the sea is easily confused for jellyfish by hungry marine animals. They will likely choke or die with a belly full of plastic! Absolutely not!

As a crafty maker who loves a beautiful print, I have bought a lot of pretty pattern cotton over the years, but I have no idea where it came from, how it was produced and if the inks used are low impact. I started searching for sustainable fabric and was asking the suppliers these questions and their usual response was "We just don't know!". Well, that doesn't sit well with me.

There are some very adorable prints out there, but are they doing more harm than good? Can they actually be composted at the end or are their dyes releasing harmful toxins into our soil? That's why I will only stock cotton products that are certified by GOTS.

Use them to wrap up your sandwiches, fruit, veg, or cheese. You can also use as a bowl or plate cover. The warmth from your hands with slightly melt the wax, allowing it to stick in place.

Hand wash your Beeswax Food Wrap with cold water and alcohol-free soap. The beeswax coating will become stiff, providing you with a stable surface to clean. The wrap washes like a plate and can handle a light scrub with a gentle dishcloth or sponge.

GOTS Organic Cotton - The Organic GOTS cotton has been carefully and sustainably sourced to ensure the highest quality Beeswax Wraps on the market.

Organic Beeswax - The Beeswax truly is a quality product and is simply melted and filtered to remove hive debris.

Organic Jojoba Oil - The Jojoba oil (pronounced ho-ho-ba) is the liquid that comes from the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) plant, which is a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. Although called an oil, it’s actually a liquid plant wax and has been used in folk medicine for a number of ailments.

Organic Tree Resin (Pine Rosin) - The Rosin is a solid resin derived from the oleo-resin (crude turpentine) exuded by various species of pine tree. Rosin is extracted by heating the oleo-resin to vaporise the essential oils (spirit of turpentine), or through a naphtha solvent process. Rosin is mainly produced in Portugal and Brazil but Indonesia, northern Vietnam, southern China, the US, Mexico and France are also producers. Rosin is sold as a semi-transparent solid ranging in colour from yellow to black and has a faint odour of pine.

Food Industry

In Europe, Rosin does not have an E number, so is not authorised as a food additive, but is authorised for use on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food [Commission Regulation EU 10/2011]. In the US, Rosin of colour grade K or paler (e.g. WW grade) "may be safely used as the food-contact surface of articles intended for use in producing, manufacturing, packing, processing, preparing, treating, packaging, transporting, or holding food..." [FDA CFR 21 175.300].
